Pre-Interview Requirements

 

1. Complete Membership Application (25 minutes) - Deadline is Sunday, February 7, 2016

2. Submit $100 Membership Application Fee (< 1 minute) - Deadline is Sunday, February 7, 2016

Click here to submit payment via credit card or debit card. You can also mail check or money order to 9103 Woodmore Centre Drive, #361 Lanham, MD  20706.

 

3. Complete Online Mentoring Training (2 hours) - Deadline is Sunday, February 21, 2016

Visit the 100 Black Men of America, Inc. website (www.100BlackMen.org) and follow instructions on the MIP checklist to complete the online mentoring training.

 

4. Complete the background check process (25 minutes) - Deadline is Sunday, February 21, 2016

Visit the PGCPS Human Resources Employee Services Center at 14201 School Lane, Upper Marlboro MD 20772 Room 128 between 8:00 a.m and 3:45 p.m. Monday- Friday to complete the application. Cost is $59.32. On the background check application, please have the results of the background check mailed directly to our offices at 9103 Woodmore Centre Drive, #361 Lanham, MD  20706.

 

5. Complete the DISC assessment (25 minutes) - Deadline is Sunday, February 21, 2016

Visit The Abelson Group web site main page (www.TheAbelsonGroup.com) and follow instructions on MIP to complete the DISC assessment. 

 

7. Participate in four Mentoring Events (6-8 hours over 2 months) - Deadline is Friday, March 11 , 2016

You can find a list of all of our upcoming Mentoring events on the Prospective Members Webpage. Please first contact Vice President of Mentoring Tramaine Crawford (tcrawford@100princegeorges.org) to notify him of your intention to attend and confirm eligibility to participate in one of our mentoring events. Only prospective members that have successfully completed the Prince George’s County Public School System Fingerprint Background Check Process are allowed to participate in our mentoring programs.

 

INTERVIEW REQUIREMENTS

 

8. In-Person Membership Committee Interview (30 minutes) – Deadline is Sunday, February 21, 2016

After completing all of the pre-interview requirements, email membership@100princegeorges.org to request a list of available time slots to schedule an in-person interview with the Membership Committee. Your interview can only be scheduled after completing all of the pre-interview requirements.

 

9. Submit Two Letters of Recommendation – Deadline is the day of your in-person interview

Bring two (2) letters of recommendation to your in-person interview with Membership Committee. One letter must be from a current member of a 100 Black Men chapter. If you do not have a relationship with a member of a 100 Black Men chapter, the Vice President of Operations can issue a recommendation letter at his discretion. POST-INTERVIEW REQUIREMENTS

 

10. General Body Approval - March, 19, 2016

If the membership committee and Board of Directors approve your application for membership, you must attend the March General Body Meeting on March 19, 2016 at 9:00 AM. All prospective members in attendance will be presented to General Body and a vote will take place to approve induction. After a successful vote, you are now a member and will participate in a pinning ceremony, recite a membership oath, and be asked to sign the President’s commitment letter, which outlines the expectations of a member in good standing.  

 

11. 2016 Prorated Annual Dues - April 18, 2016

Submit prorated payment of annual membership dues in the amount of $150 within 30 days of General Body approval.
